Everyday Employment Law: The Basics
Description: This workshop will provide attendees with a clear, logical and progressive approach to complying with state and federal employment laws. Our primary focus will be the individual employment relationship and the associated issues surrounding it. This class will cover such areas as hiring, maintenance of employment records, discrimination, hostile work environment, wrongful discharge, employment at will, employment contracts, and the various laws pertaining to overtime, minimum wages, and leaves of absences. Participants will learn: the major state and federal laws governing the employment relationship; how to manage employees effectively without committing unlawful acts; and an appreciation and understanding of how to function within the current EEO/Discrimination environment.
Target Audience: Managers and those working in nonprofits with supervisory responsibility for human resources.
