Grantmaking Program Area Descriptions:

Ageing: Through its Ageing Program, Atlantic supports efforts to accurately measure the needs of older adults, as well as to ensure access to stable sources of income and other entitled benefits for low-income older adults, like Social Security, Medicare and pensions.  Atlantic also seeks to improve the quality of health care for older adults with chronic conditions by making systemic changes that better coordinate care and reduce costs.

Children & Youth: Atlantic aims to transform the life trajectory of the nation’s most vulnerable children and youth by improving their health outcomes through increased access to care and intervening to end the needless expulsions of students from school and often into the criminal justice system as a result of widespread zero-tolerance school discipline policies.  The foundation also aims to maximize the impact of Atlantic’s signature initiative, the Elev8 community schools model, by highlighting and sharing the lessons learned about how school districts and communities can partner to provide high-quality educational and social services to middle school students and their families.

Reconciliation & Human Rights: Through its Reconciliation & Human Rights Program, Atlantic seeks to ensure that all people in the United States have access to the same rights and liberties. The foundation supports efforts to abolish the death penalty, reduce racial inequality, protect immigrant rights and strengthen key civil liberties nongovernmental organizations.

Type of Funding/Funding Restrictions:  Atlantic Philanthropies considers proposals by invitation only.
