About Us: 

Mission/ Giving Statement: The Prajna Foundation is a Section 501(c)(3) exempt private foundation with emphasis on projects and activities that "promote sustainable cultures by funding innovative projects in education, ecology, social change, and economic justice; enhance the quality and diversity of cultural life, bioregionalism, and sustainable agriculture; restore and preserve the environment and its natural systems, prevent irreversible damage to the natural systems upon which all life depends as well as strengthen individuals and institutions committed to protecting natural systems and ensuring a sustainable society; promote active citizen involvement to strengthen our democratic society and support efforts aimed at encouraging the development and maintenance of strong local communities, through the funding of a wide array of voluntary charitable organizations, with particular interest in local efforts where citizens band together to find creative solutions to problems which affect their lives, and those which facilitate their assuming responsibility for their community and the involvement of young people in community affairs; support efforts where people and communities further the struggle for equality and human rights; and sponsorship of innovative programs to bring together diverse individuals seeking social and environmental justice, creative new approaches to economic enterprise, and an enlightened stewardship of our natural environment."
