Director of Development

Job Description
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

The Director of Development directs all fundraising initiatives and is directly responsible for major gifts, planned giving, grant writing and sponsorship development, corporate fundraising, and oversees the membership program, annual fundraising event and annual appeal. Position collaborates with the Museum Director, Trustees and senior staff.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Experience with fundraising events and ability to use of social media platforms is expected. Must be comfortable with data use, and database fundraising tracking software. Will assist the Museum Director in collaborating with Board Members in their fundraising effort. Will supervise the full-time membership associate and a volunteer assistant.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required; advanced degree a plus. Five or more years of nonprofit fundraising experience, should be skilled at proposal development, gift cultivation and understand planned giving programs. Should be very comfortable with making sponsorship calls to individuals, small businesses and major corporations.
