Main Areas of Responsibility:
The American Heart Association (AHA) is seeking a Regional Director of Communications. The selected candidate will serve New Mexico and West Texas. Responsibilities involve working with staff and volunteers to execute strategic public relations and marketing campaigns. This position is located in AHA’s Albuquerque office and requires some travel within the states of New Mexico and Texas.
Additional Areas of Responsibility:
Serve as media contact, including responsibility for achieving media impression goals and securing local media sponsorships of AHA events and programs; manage social media presence through Facebook and Twitter; provide counsel on media, marketing and promotional campaigns; work with development partners on scripting and event run-of-show and injecting passion into events; contribute to design needs, including approving all materials to ensure alignment and adherence to AHA Branding Guidelines.
Ability to develop and implement communications plans and to create and place stories and promotional ideas with journalists and promotions directors in print and broadcast media; skill in writing and editing for a variety of mediums; experience in engaging communities via Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, Instragram, etc.); proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (v5) strongly preferred; existing media relationships in select markets preferred.
