Main Areas of Responsibility: 

Vision for Dignity, Access, and Accountability in Healthcare (VIDA) is a project of JAZZ for Health. VIDA works to identify and directly address barriers to health in Bernalillo County. We work with community groups, policy leaders, and advocates to reduce systemic barriers to affordable healthcare. The Community Organizer works in cooperation with VIDA staff, volunteers, and interns to advance VIDA’s health advocacy objectives and priorities

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Working with VIDA Coordinator and staff to identify barriers to health in Casa de Salud patient community
Developing community based campaigns to bring attention to and address these barriers
Maintaining and expanding VIDA’s relationships with other organizations, community members, and policymakers
Organizing and leading VIDA program meetings around strategy and planning
Developing and supervising the patient coalition
Developing VIDA messaging and maintaining VIDA media contacts

Other Information/Requirements: 

Contract position, 30 hours per week, starting salary is $14/hour
Bilingual and Biliterate (Spanish/English)
High school diploma; Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferred
6 months or more of community organizing and/or health advocacy experience
Advocacy, public speaking, and professional and technical writing experience
Intermediate to advanced computer skills
Familiarity with the Affordable Care Act and Bernalillo County health access issues
