Make a Difference Day, the largest national day of helping others is celebrated each year on the fourth Friday and Saturday of October and it has become the nation’s largest day of volunteering, thanks to the passion of millions of people like you. The Center for Nonprofit Excellence at United Way of Central New Mexico is supporting the Make a Difference Day volunteer team.

Be one of over 4,000 volunteers or 300 nonprofit organizations participating in the 2010 local Make a Difference Day. Register a volunteer project to have the project added to the list below. Volunteer teams can sign up after September 13. To sign up a volunteer team simply open the relevant listing below and follow the instructions to fulfill a project. YWCA Middle Rio Grande The 4th STAND DOWN event - 1,500 homeless veterans expected. We have a station for women. Others provide employment/benefit help, showers, haircuts, flu shots, hygiene kits, clothes, hot meals/food. Special Event Support Albuquerque 10
Crossroads for Women Crossroads for Women needs 1-3 face painters for our annual Halloween Party. Some basic artistic skills needed along with willingness and ability to engage children in this activity. Special Event Support Albuquerque 1-3

Albuquerque Children's Water Festival Each year 1,000 fourth grade students attend this event to learn about the water through hands-on activities. Volunteers act as a guides for student groups and can participate one day or two. Special Event Support Albuquerque 5 each day
