Mission Statement: 
Animal Protection of New Mexico is a statewide nonprofit organization that advocates the rights of animals by affecting systemic change which results in the humane treatment of all animals.
Programs: 
• Ensuring crimes against animals are taken seriously - Underwrite Animal Control/other law enforcement officer training - Coordinate Attorney General’s Animal Cruelty Taskforce (ACT) on cockfighting, dogfighting, hoarding & other cruelty cases - Manage statewide cruelty hotlines, route cases to law enforcement & provide technical support - Offer up to $10,000 rewards for case information - Place billboards about rewards & reporting cruelty • Institutionalizing the humane treatment of animals - Maintain, expand & promote Companion Animal Rescue Effort (CARE) network - Promote and assist in establishing spay-neuter programs, promote spay-neuter license plate - Enhance local and state animal protection laws, including restrictions on dog chaining - Create & maintain Equine Protection Fund and programs - Interface with & provide support for state Animal Sheltering Board - Seek spay-neuter clinic funding, support from state • Elevating animal protection/wildlife conservation issues in the public consciousness - Provide Kind News humane education newspapers to 260 classrooms - Establish & launch "Cougar Smart New Mexico" & "Beavers Belong" coexistence campaigns - Launching campaign to get dogs off chains - Engaged in state/NGO efforts to promote safe wildlife corridor projects • Ensuring government resources do not contribute to inhumane treatment - Engaged in campaign to see Alamogordo Primate Facility chimpanzees retired to sanctuary
