Mission Statement:
To improve education for all children through recognition, recruitment and professional development of quality teachers.
Programs:
1) Golden Apple Award for Teaching Excellence - recognizes 7 teachers each year statewide, alternating levels, Tribute to Teacher Excellence each spring to recognize winners
2) Golden Apple Scholars Program - provides 6-week summer institute for aspiring teachers, each summer throughout college preparation. Institute includes teaching experience, mentoring and instruction from Golden Apple Award-winning teachers.
3) Professional Development - personal grant for each award-winning teacher, 3 meetings each year for professional learning community that includes all teachers who have won the award, 3-day conference "Teaching in Schools of Need" each summer open to Golden Apple teachers, Scholars, and teams from schools around the state.
