Mission Statement:
Our mission is to improve access to fresh, organic food and gardening education for diverse populations in Albuquerque. We work to demonstrate and educate the community about sustainable agriculture, enhance wildlife habitat and preserve agricultural land and traditions.
Programs:
Rio Grande Community Farm has a community garden that is open to the public. Our farming operation demonstrates sustainable agriculture and provides fresh, organic produce for Albuquerque Public Schools as well as local restaurants and markets. We donate a portion of our harvest to a local food bank. In addition to food for people, 25% of what we grow is for wildlife including flocks of migrating geese and sandhill cranes. We offer education programs including service learning opportunities for students of all ages and gardening workshops. Each fall, we host the annual Maize Maze which is open to the public on weekends and available for group field trips during the week.
