Description of the Volunteer Opportunity:
Treasurer. Maintain bookkeeping records using computer Intuit software; write checks; balance check book; prepare financial statements; prepare 990 tax returns. Current treasurer is remaining on the Board of Directors and will provide orientation.
Who Will Be Impacted Through This Project:
Reading Works is a non-profit adult literacy program. We provide free tutoring to adults who reside in Bernalillo County. We teach adults (1) to read and write; (2) prepare for the GED exam; or (3) learn English as a Second Language. We are young and growing program with a strong Board of Directors.
Additional Requirements:
Attend Board of Director meetings — second Saturday of each month (10:00 am to 12:00 pm); attend monthly Executive Committee meetings (day of the month depends on schedules); help Board of Directors determine yearly budget.
