Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

The ReadWest Board is composed of individuals with a passion for Literacy and a driving concern for families in which the parent does not read. We work together to assure that the organization continues its 25 year tradition of serving the community. We raise funds, and guide the program's activities. We are looking for caring individuals who share our belief that the ability to read and write English is a basic necessity for all members of our community.

Low income, at risk families are impacted most. The strongest indicator that a child will live in poverty is that one or both of the parents do not have a high school education. The ability to read will help fathers and mothers get a better job, get a promotion, read to their children, communicate with their physician and the children's school.
