Dates Volunteer is Needed: 
Cooking unit is 2 hours. Volunteers should arrive 15 min. early and plan to stay 15 min. after each class.
Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 
Volunteers work side by side with students, in their classroom,(K-5 including Sp.Ed) preparing culturally diverse meals. Through this volunteers help create an enriching hands-on experience where students learn culinary skills, proper sanitation and safety, an awareness and acceptance of a variety of foods, an understanding of the nutritional benefits of food and understanding of the food cycle.
Who Will Be Impacted Through This Project: 
Students, families and their communities are positively impacted when students are offered a safe environment to explore foods, everyone is supported in making their own choices to try the foods they prepare and students begin to actively take part in their own health by eating a variety of healthy foods and engaging in daily physical activity.
Nonprofit Will Provide: 
Volunteers are asked to sit with the students and enjoy the food that was prepared.
Additional Requirements: 
Enjoy being with a classroom of elementary students during a hands-on activity. Each Cooking unit is 2 hours. Volunteers should arrive 15 min. early and plan to stay 15 min. after each class.
