Collaborating for Greater Impact
Leslie Crutchfield and Heather McLeod Grant spent four years surveying thousands of nonprofit CEOs, conducting hundreds of interviews, and studying 12 high-impact nonprofits to uncover their secrets to success. Their work resulted in the acclaimed book, Forces for Good: The Six Practices of High-Impact Nonprofits. The Economist picked this book as a TopTen Business Book and featured it as a Best Book of the Year. Jim Collins, author of Good to Great said, “Inspired and inspiring, this book can change the way the world works by changing how leaders think.” Their research points to the need for effective collaboration among nonprofits to create greater impact. Leslie will share what has changed in the nonprofit sector in recent years and help us understand what leads to higher nonprofit impact with clients and in our communities.
Join us as Leslie shares insights from her research and demonstrates how the practices of high-impact nonprofits benefit collaborations. The keynote address will be followed by small group discussions to delve deeper into the Six Practices as they relate to collaboration.
Whether you’re a nonprofit leader, a philanthropist, a business executive, a donor, a volunteer, a board member—or simply interested in learning how to be a more effective collaborator—you’ll find something at this event that inspires you to be an even more effective catalyst for lasting social change.
• Nonprofit managers and leaders: Local nonprofits can become more successful with collaboration by applying these practices at the local level; growing nonprofits can use them as a guide to scaling impact more broadly.
• Donors, philanthropists and business leaders: Donors who seek maximum impact from their charitable gifts can learn more about these six practices to better understand what leads to high impact and then work with your nonprofit partners to build their capabilities in these areas. Donors may also wish to read Do More than Give: The Six Practices of Donors Who Change the World, which was inspired by Forces for Good and co-written by Leslie Crutchfield.
