Main Areas of Responsibility:
This position involves a diverse set of duties, including serving as legal counsel for a small non-profit organization; teaching and mentoring of professionals in legal matters related to sexual violence; participating in policy work in administrative law and legislative settings; giving legal information to traumatized individuals; and managing projects and funding for agency legal initiatives.
Additional Areas of Responsibility:
The Attorney will review policies and legal documents; provide legal advice; conduct statewide trainings; provide legal education and consultation on campus civil procedures specific to sexual violence; provide civil legal resources; provide legislative support, including research, bill analysis, and expert testimony; write grant proposals, budgets, and reports specific to the legal program; and manage the Prosecution Mentoring Project.
The candidate must be admitted to practice law in NM, in good standing; have a minimum of 4 years’ experience as a practicing attorney; be experienced as a trainer; and able to travel within NM. Experience working with sexual assault survivors and marginalized communities in courtrooms, on campus, in housing, and/or employment law; legal grant management and budgeting; and fluency in Spanish is preferred.
