Program Officer

Job Description
Type of Job: 
Main Areas of Responsibility: 

● Manage a variety of public humanities programs and participate in fundraising, budgeting, publicity, and evaluation for those programs
● Assist with grant proposal development and reporting
● Maintain data on assigned program activities
● Provide support across programs and projects

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

● Represent Council at board meetings, NMHC programs, and with general public
● Occasional overnight travel and evening/weekend availability required
● Assist with daily office operations
● Other duties as assigned

Other Information/Requirements: 

• BA in humanities discipline (advanced degree preferred)
• Strong communications skills
• Able to work collaboratively and independently
• Demonstrable knowledge of NM’s people/history/culture
• Experience working with scholars/nonprofits/public in NM
• Success developing/managing online and in-person cultural programs
• Experience writing/managing grants
• Strong computer skills
• Ability to apply current tech solutions to program needs
