Volunteer Coordinator

Main Areas of Responsibility: 

Responsible for the cultivation, education, placement, coordination, and retention of volunteers. Promotes effective communication within the staff of Saranam to uncover volunteer needs, create job descriptions and connect volunteers with meaningful volunteer opportunities. Oversees volunteers and their relationships with those they interact with including employees and families. Manages all elements of the volunteer function. Works effectively and neutrally with diverse belief systems.

Additional Areas of Responsibility: 

Develop, promote, and maintain a wide range of volunteer opportunities. Build long-term relationships with volunteers. Assess the need of volunteer assistance and staff accordingly. Develop and manage volunteer policies, procedures, budgets, and best practices for volunteer service. Recruit, interview, orient, and train volunteers. Evaluate volunteer programs to ensure effectiveness and recommend/implement changes. Maintain databases and manage administrative duties. Manage donations and supplies.

Other Information/Requirements: 

Bachelor’s degree with at least two years of applicable experience. Experience may be considered in lieu of college degree. Background in managing volunteers a plus. Bi-lingual (English-Spanish) preferred. May be required to work some evenings and weekends. Must be able to work with people in diverse circumstances and handle conflict and crisis. Light physical work required. Excellent organizational, planning, and communication skills. Strong skills in MS Office and email marketing platforms.
