Santa Fe Performing Arts
Santa Fe Performing Arts' mission is to utilize the performing arts as a tool for education and to address issues facing the youth of our community, to develop a professional adult residence company dedicated to innovation and excellence and to provide the community with a performing arts center.
SFPA’s year around educational programming includes on-site programs for children of all ages. These programs have attracted more than 10,000 students and 90 main-stage productions have played to 150,000 audience members. SFPA has a Scholarship Program for all on-site programs.
The Artist’s-in-the-Schools Residency Program brings SFPA instructors specializing in acting, music and dance into low-income public schools to work with the classroom teachers and integrate performing arts into the curriculum.
The Educational Touring Production/Workshop present bilingual educational theatre pieces from an ensemble of professional actors committed to bringing the craft of theatre into public schools while addressing a variety of social issues that are important to today’s youth. Past tours have dealt with teen suicide, drugs, gangs and anti-violence.
The Teacher Training Production/Workshop are training course designed to show classroom teachers how to integrate the performing arts into their teaching strategies. Step-by-step procedures help teachers bring lessons to life, enhancing learning through basic theatre techniques.
The mission of the Adult Company is: to provide the community with a professional resident company committed to artistic excellence, to create opportunities for New Mexico theatre artists to work in a professional environment, and to form collaborations with others.
