Mission Statement:

To assist U.S. military veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI) as well as local shelter dogs by providing integrative service dog training and mental health support to veterans and their families.

Our organization provides a approximate 6 month program where selected trainers work with the enrolled veteran to train his/her service dog according to their needs. This program is a flat $2000 cost, which provides the dog (if the veteran does not already have one that has been approved by the trainers), all training, and equipment needed for the service dog (vest, patches, leash, Halti, etc.). The program is geared specifically for veterans who have been diagnosed with Traumatic Brain Injury and/or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The program works to have the veterans work with the trainers hand in hand to train their dog custom to their needs. Paws and Stripes covers the cost of each veteran's program, or facilitates sponsorship of a veteran from outside sources. Paws and Stripes also offers group therapy for the veterans enrolled in the program on a monthly basis, as well as information and workshops for their families.
