David Styers, Senior Governance Consultant, BoardSource

David Styers brings nearly three decades of nonprofit consulting and training experience, as well as an extensive background working at the forefront of civic engagement in volunteer and leadership development, to his role as a BoardSource senior governance consultant since 2007. He provides project management, consulting, and training services to major organizations across the nation on best governance practices, emerging trends and developments in the nonprofit sector, and chief executive assessment and coaching.

David Styers also serves as the representative for volunteers to the United Nations, and as managing director, strategy & planning for Ascent Leadership Networks in New York City.  Previously director of learning and development at the Presidio Trust, David has run fellowship and leadership education programs as diverse as for cross sector corporate, nonprofit, and government leaders to orchestra managers and conductors. David holds a Specialization in Design Thinking and Innovation from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business and a Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude degree in English from Wake Forest University.
