Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

PeopleWorks-NM provides innovative services to significantly improve the mental health and wellbeing of older adults and families within the Albuquerque and Rio Rancho area, and now expanding into other areas of the state during the pandemic. As a member of the Board of Directors, you will help guide the strategic direction of this growth-oriented organization, ensure its legal and ethical integrity, enhance its public standing, provide financial oversight, and ensure mission critical initiatives are achieved.
Historically our board members have served in advisory capacity, but board members who are able to devote 2-10 hours monthly who have specific skills in fundraising, technology, marketing, and program development are particularly sought during this time so as to develop our capacity to serve populations facing grief and loss, isolation, and digital inequality.

Who Will Be Impacted Through This Project: 

We hope to expand our capacity of persons receiving counseling via telehealth and also create new offerings of group support and classes on topics of grief and loss, coping with caregiving, and advance planning. During the time of the pandemic and beyond, people are experiencing stress, grief, depression, anxiety.

Volunteer appreciation gifts, meal for annual meeting (or equivalent), video technology for board meetings.

Additional Requirements: 

Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree, board member experience, (nonprofit board experience preferred), and have knowledge of at least one of the following areas of expertise: mental health service provision; fundraising; marketing; technology for telehealth; strategic plans or program development.
We need creative thinkers, and those who can foster partnerships to achieve our goals.
