Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

The Treasurer is the custodian of all funds and property of NAMI Albuquerque, shall receive and deposit dues and other revenues of the affiliate and disburse monies as the Board may direct, maintain a complete and accurate account of all funds received and disbursed, prepares reports for each Board meeting or upon request, and presents a complete year-end financial report at the Annual Meeting. They prepare a budget for the following year with the assistance of the Executive Committee to be approved by the Board of Directors. The Treasurer shall present the books for audit and at such times as required by the State of New Mexico. The Treasurer and the paid accountant shall approve the electronic bookkeeping system. The Past Treasurer shall continue to serve in an advisory position to maintain continuity in transitioning responsibilities to the elected treasurer.

NAMI-Albuquerque is an effective mental health organization dedicated to empowering and enlightening Albuquerque’s diverse population through advocacy, education and support. Volunteers are celebrated yearly and acknowledged through the type of work they contribute to the community.
NAMI-Albuquerque accomplishes its mission by:
• Providing education programs for families, individuals, providers and communities;
• Promoting innovative education and support in diverse community settings;
• Working to abolish stigma;
• Working with all branches and levels of government to promote systems change and expand resources;
• Providing safe environments to promote resilience and recovery.

Additional Requirements: 

Once contacted by the Nominating Committee, we will ask you to complete a short application and provide a resume. If your skills, experiences, and interests link with the current needs of our boards, we will contact you for an interview and help you create a bio to present to our current Board. The initial appointment would be temporary, until the whole NAMI Albuquerque membership votes on nominees in June.
