Board Vice President - Make an Impact by Improving Mental Health

Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

The Vice-President shall acquaint themselves with the operations of the Board, shall attend all meetings of the membership, of the Board of Directors, and of the Executive Committee. In the absence of the President, the Vice-President shall assume the duties and have the authority of the President. Should the President fo the Board resign, be removed from office, become incapacitated or unable to fulfil his/her duties that authority will fall to the Vice-President who shall become Acting President. Upon assuming the role, the Acting President shall call a Special Meeting of the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee will determine if the Acting President should remain in the role as Acting President, in a situation where the Board President’s incapacity is temporary, or if the position of Board President should be filled for the remainder of the term.

NAMI-Albuquerque is an effective mental health organization dedicated to empowering and enlightening Albuquerque’s diverse population through advocacy, education and support. Volunteers are celebrated yearly and acknowledged through the type of work they contribute to the community.
NAMI-Albuquerque accomplishes its mission by:
• Providing education programs for families, individuals, providers and communities;
• Promoting innovative education and support in diverse community settings;
• Working to abolish stigma;
• Working with all branches and levels of government to promote systems change and expand resources;
• Providing safe environments to promote resilience and recovery.

Additional Requirements: 

Once contacted by the Nominating Committee, we will ask you to complete a short application and provide a resume. If your experience links with the needs of our board, we will contact you for an interview and request a bio to present to our current Board. We will ask you to join our open board meetings from now until the position opens, at which point NAMI Albuquerque membership votes on nominees in June.
