Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 

Christina Kent Early Childhood Center, a 501 C 3 organization and Albuquerque’s oldest childcare center, is working to create a more socially inclusive Board of Directors.

We are seeking several individuals who represent the diverse demographics of our community to serve as volunteer Board members. Prior Board experience is desired, but not required.

Conviction on the importance of quality early childhood education is essential. Board members participate in committees and fundraising events as they are able.

Christina Kent Early Childhood Center has served Albuquerque working families from our downtown location with quality childcare, early education, and nutritional services in a safe and nurturing environment since 1919.

As members of our Board, volunteers help to guide the Center's policy, facility planning, strategic planning, and fundraising which ultimately affect the 62 children in the program, 2 to 5 years of age, their working parents, and our teaching staff.

Board orientation and annual strategic planning. We will send a Board application form, Frequently Asked Questions Sheet, and Board Agreement form to interested persons. We will be happy to talk with you about the Board and our operations to see if you consider it a good fit.

Additional Requirements: 

The Christina Kent Board meets on the fourth Wednesday, 11 months of the year, from 7:30 to 9:30 am. In addition, most members serve on one committee that holds one additional meeting per month.
