Description of the Volunteer Opportunity: 
The National Museum of Nuclear Science and History seeks individuals willing to help with school tours for children and teens through the month of April. Volunteers will assist with our special, temporary exhibit Tech City by supervising school groups as they rotate through 12 interactive activity and exhibit stations. Volunteers will also assist in engaging children in hands-on activities related to fundamental science & engineering concepts.
Who Will Be Impacted Through This Project: 
The museum hosts school groups 3 to 5 times a week with grades ranging from grades 3 through 12. Participating schools are primarily from within Albuquerque and the surrounding area.
Nonprofit Will Provide: 
The museum will provide training for the school tours. Additional volunteer opportunities are available throughout the summer and beyond as volunteers are interested (training available). Volunteers are also invited to periodic brown bag lunches and special events. You will have the opportunity to meet and work with individuals who are passionate about education as well as science and history. Other benefits are also available.
Additional Requirements: 
Volunteers for this assignment must possess an interest in working with children as well as an interest in science or engineering. Volunteers must also be able to stand for periods of time. Volunteers must also be available to assist during the weekdays. School tours vary in length of time spent at the museum. Generally assistance is needed between the hours of 9 am and 2 pm.
