The Museum Association of Taos (MAT)was established in 1992 and in 1998 MAT received its 501 C3 determination. MAT is a marketing organization that promotes five museums -- Harwood Museum of Art University of New Mexico, Taos Historic Museums (E.L.Blumenschein Home & Museum and la Hacienda de los Martinez), Millicent Rogers Museum, and Taos Art Museum & Fechin House -- and the MAT Combo Ticket through local, state, regional and national advertising. The Combination Ticket is available at all 5 museums and the Taos Visitor Center for $25, a more than 60% saving off regular admission. MAT produces and distributes a brochure about the member museums and maintains a website (www.taosmuseums.org). MAT also runs a long-standing free pre-school program (Wednesday AM) that rotates among the museums year round. This program and the summer Art Discovery Camp are funded by MAT’s partnership with the Taos News to help produce the annual Festival of Trees and Wreaths.
