Description of the Volunteer Opportunity:
Therapeutic Riding for disabled children and adults requires as many as 3 volunteers per rider to insure safety. Multiple times available. Volunteer must be physically able to walk in arena and perform emergency dismounts if required(not a regular occurrence). Lesson days are usually 3 one hour lessons in a row. No horse experience is necessary, our training program will help you learn your new duties. Weekdays and Saturdays in Winter, Weeknights and Saturday morning in the Summer.
Who Will Be Impacted Through This Project:
Children and Adults with disabilities gain self-confidence, exercise, motor skills, socialization, and much more when participating in the riding lessons. Yes, they learn about horses, their care, and riding skills too, but the everyday skills of daily life are what matters the most.
