Description of the Volunteer Opportunity:
Prepare the meal at home or purchase it. The meal should consist of a main course, vegetable and/or salad, bread or rolls, and a dessert, and should feed up to 18 men, or 8 women. Meals begin at 6:00pm. If you arrive about 10 minutes early, you will have time to lay out the food and reheat anything that has gotten cold. There are stoves and microwaves at both locations. The tables will be set ahead of time by the residents. All you have to do is show up with the food!
Who Will Be Impacted Through This Project:
Dinners help our residents to practice their communication and social skills. Volunteer dinners also provide an opportunity for residents to network for jobs and housing opportunities that volunteers may know about. Most importantly, the Dismas House Volunteer Dinner Program is an activity that encourages a dialogue of trust between members of the community and our residents.
